Welcome to InvestmentTeams!

This web site is a vehicle for traders and investors who want to work together to leverage their knowledge and research in order to maximize return on investment. To be successful in today's market one needs to be constantly aware of their performance. Many portfolio tools simply track your open positions and do not provide any history of your overall performance. Often times even your broker will only provide a limited amount of transaction history on-line. This site is intended to be easy to use, but robust enough to track both open and closed positions for equities and options trading. In addition to the portfolio tool we have also developed a stock query tool and have many more enhancements underway to support the following concepts.

Collaboration - The immense popularity of the message boards at Yahoo! and Raging Bull are a testimony to the value we place on collaborating with other investors. Unfortunately, these web sites have largely become overtaken by spammers and investors whose motivation for posting are usually self-serving. By deploying message boards and providing browse-only access to other member's trading history, I hope to provide a vehicle where intelligent investors can once again use collaboration as a tool to get new ideas and be more successful. Members have the ability to define 'teams' and notify those team members via e-mail when they enter or exit trades or contribute other information to InvestmentTeams.

Education - One of the most appealing things about trading is that you never stop learning. You learn about industries and companies, you learn about accounting practices, you learn about technical analysis - hopefully, you learn from your mistakes. One of the key benefits of using this web site for tracking your investments is that you can begin to maintain a journal of your trades. Often trades are made without any reason behind why you entered or exited from a given position. Adding a remark to each of your trades not only forces you to think more clearly about why you are making the move at this given point in time, but it also provides some history so that you can go back and analyze later what tactics have worked best for you. This site provides members with the ability to set up a 'paper trading' account and test new trading methodologies before you put your hard earned dollars on the line.

Simplification - Trading involves lots of time consuming and laborious tasks, but its imperative that you know the value of your positions and be able to measure your success. Decisions must be made quickly in fast moving markets and not having information about your portfolio available at a glance may end up costing you money.
